How We Come To Knitting: Honoring Her Mother

One of my students who I have been teaching for the past few years decided she wanted to pick up knitting after her mother passed away.

While she was alive, her mother regularly talked about teaching her to knit.

After she passed, this became a way to feel connected to her even though she wasn’t around any more.

Having that kind of purpose behind a goal can give a lot of motivation and determination. It can help us push through even when something is hard or taking longer than we want it to.

I have seen that motivation shine though – reflected in one of my most dedicated students who never gives up when things are hard.

As she is fond of saying “Oh well, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

No, it wasn’t – and we can keep pushing forward one stitch at a time as we work to learn new skills.
